Hillmuth Auto Care provides complete fluid and lubricant maintenance services for your vehicle. Bring your car to any of our 4 locations in Columbia, Gaithersburg, Glenwood or Clarksville and we’ll check all the fluids and perform the necessary refill, replacement or full system flush as needed.
Oil Change and Filter Replacement
Recommended every 5,000 – 10,000
Oil changes play an important role in the performance of your engine. The frequency depends on the make, age and model of your car, but modern cars and modern oils have allowed vehicles to go longer without oil changes. You can always rely on Hillmuth to change your car’s oil and oil filter, as well as recommend ideal service intervals based on the condition of your car.
Brake Fluid Flush
Recommended every 30,000 miles or 2 years
When we perform brake service on your vehicle, we may also recommend a brake fluid flush if we notice that the fluid looks dirty. The flush will help remove any contaminants from the brake lines and improve performance of your brakes.
Power Steering Fluid Service
Recommended every 2 years or 30,000 miles
Power steering fluid helps you turn your wheel with little effort regardless of your speed. Although it doesn’t go through as much wear as the engine oil or transmission fluid, it still may become contaminated over time. And since there are no filters in the power steering system to catch these contaminants, a fluid flush may be necessary at certain intervals. Complete power steering fluid flush involves applying cleaner into the fluid reservoir and flushing out old fluid before refilling. We also inspect all components for wear, leaks and proper operation, as well as fortify fluid with power steering conditioner.
Transmission Fluid Flush
Recommended every 30,000 to 60,000 miles or per owner’s manual
Transmission fluid plays an important role in automatic transmissions, where it cools and lubricates transmission components. Certain types of driving conditions, such as frequent stop-and-go driving, may lead to premature transmission fluid brake-down. Manual transmissions also have a lubricant that is subject to contamination rather than break-down. At Hillmuth Auto Care, we can make sure your gears are shifting smoothly regardless of the type of transmission in your car by removing the old lubricant, cleaning the system and refilling it with fresh transmission fluid.
Cooling System Service
Recommended every 30,000 to 60,000 miles or per owner’s manual
Coolant is a mixture of water and antifreeze that circulates through the radiator and your car’s engine to remove excess heat. Antifreeze also has anti-corrosion components that help maintain the inside of the engine and cooling system free of corrosion and scale. Our experienced Maryland mechanics can perform a coolant flush on your vehicle at any of our 4 locations in Columbia, Clarksville, Gaithersburg or Glenwood. We will thoroughly remove and recycle the old coolant, clean the entire system, fill your car with the new coolant in the right 50/50 proportions, check all hoses and belts and pressure-test for leaks. We will also check heater, defroster and cooling fan operation and road test the vehicle.
Refrigerant Recharge
If you are having problems with your vehicle’s A/C system, it may be necessary to recharge or top off the refrigerant. At Hillmuth Auto Care, we use special equipment to safely recover and dispose of old refrigerant according to the EPA’s guidelines. We will also ensure that your A/C system is free of leaks before putting in the new refrigerant.
