Transmission Problems We Fix
Transmission problems range from minor to serious, but in either case you shouldn’t wait to get them checked out. The transmission does the important job of transferring the engine’s torque to the wheels. If your transmission fails to shift into a higher gear as you speed up on a highway on-ramp, this can put you in a dangerous situation as you try to merge into the high-speed traffic. We can help you with all types of transmissions, including:
- Manual Transmission Repairs
- Automatic Transmission Repairs
Our Maryland transmission repair experts will be happy to help you address these and many other transmission problems:
- Delay or failure to go into gear
- Noisy transmission
- Leaking transmission fluid
- Bad clutch
- Jerky or rough shifting
- Overheating transmission fluid
- Slipping gears
- Difficulty shifting
Complete Automatic Transmission Service
If your car uses an automatic transmission, it is recommended that you get it serviced every 30,000 miles or per your owner’s manual. This service includes adding flushing cleaner to transmission, hooking-up the flush machine, completely flushing all transmission components, replacing transmission fluid, adding transmission conditioner and checking for leaks.
If you discover that your transmission is leaking fluid (you may find red or brownish stains underneath your car), don’t attempt to refill it, and instead bring your car to Hillmuth right away. The leak needs to be fixed first and factory specifications need to be followed when applying the correct amount of transmission fluid. Overfilling the reservoir may lead to further issues.
Schedule your transmission repair appointment today at one of our locations in Gaithersburg, Columbia, Glenwood or Clarksville.
